Description

The Circeo State Forest Reserve covers an area of ​​about 3,000 hectares, the wreck of the ancient Selva di Terracina which, before the reclamation works of the 1930s, occupied an area of ​​about 11,000 hectares. The vegetation consists of Mediterranean scrub and various tree species, such as pines, holm oaks, Turkey oaks, ash trees, oaks and cork oaks. Inside there are also several marshy areas and reconstructions of the characteristic windows, ancient villages of straw and wood, which testify the relationship between man and the forest, in the period prior to the reclamation. Very rich fauna.
