Description

The 18-hectare area is made up of a series of ponds with very variable depths and this has allowed the colonization of a great variety of animal and vegetable species.
The Oasis is inserted in a purely agricultural landscape, fragmented by residential urbanizations, it is the result of clay excavation activities that have continued uninterruptedly for about twenty years. Following the abandonment of excavation practices, the quarries, fed by rainwater, groundwater and from Rio Draganziolo, have turned into ponds with a depth varying from a few decimeters to a few meters. This allowed the rapid colonization by pioneering plant species and the consequent establishment of a luxuriant marsh and arboreal-shrub vegetation. This created a wetland of great naturalistic value characterized by high environmental variability, which favored the colonization of the area by a large number of animal species (especially birds, fish, amphibians). The oasis therefore represents an important reservoir of biodiversity and a fundamental refuge area for wildlife.
